A volunteer firefighter was killed while trying to save someone else in Aiken County. The county coroner says Jeffrey Swartz was responding to a respiratory distress call on Camp Rawls Road in Wagener when he lost control of his SUV.

Officials say the vehicle then hit another car, flipped over and burst into flames.

Swartz was pronounced dead on the scene.
