Video: Volunteer firefighters battle semi-truck fire

Footage of what appear to be volunteer firefighters in a small Arkansas community fighting an Interstate truck fire- without protective gear.

Showing up in a vintage fire truck with the words “GURDON FIRE DEPARTMENT” on the side, the vehicle points to the Volunteer Fire Department of Gurdon, Arkansas- a 16-man department for a 2,212-person town.

The video generated some controversy among viewers for the lack of safety procedures in place (as well as one man in what appear to be “sweatshorts”), but given the fact that these good ‘ol boys showed up in a 1950’s-1960’s era fire engine, they may be doing the best they can with what they have.
