Two ambulance workers killed in train collision

State troopers have released the names of a paramedic and an emergency medical technician who were killed in yesterday’s crash with a train in Falkville. Troopers said 26-year-old Tommy Allen Allred of Vinemont and 29-year-old Chastity Miller of Decatur, died following the 10-30 a.m. collision at a railroad crossing on U.S. Highway 31.

The vehicle from American Ambulance Service was responding to a non-life-threatening call when the collision occurred. The impact flipped the ambulance into a ditch.

Troopers are interviewing several witnesses and the wreck remains under investigation.
