Test run? FBI brought in to investigate explosion that left a crater on Long Island

SHARE

Authorities in Long Island ate looking into a “mystery crater” left by a small explosion- and are hoping that the scorched hole isn’t some sort of ominous sign of things to come.

The blast left a crater on the north side of the island that measured 4 feet wide and 2 feet deep, according to authorities.

Photos and video of the hole quickly circulated on social media.

The explosion took place on Sunday rattled homes and could be felt miles away.

The Suffolk County Police are working with the FBI to determine what the explosion could mean.

“Terrorism is always a concern because people do test devices before using them,” a police spokeswoman told Fox News. “The SCPD is investigating with the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force on this investigation.”
