Secret Service Called to Scene of McLean Fire

Mop up continues at a McLean mansion that caught fire last night. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue spokesman Lieutenant Dan Schmidt says damage to the house is estimated at $3.5 million. Firefighters were called to the home just before 10 p.m.

It took about 60 firefighters from three counties about two hours to bring the blaze under control. The 11,000 foot home is considered a total loss.

Schmidt says the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Secret Service officials were called to the scene, but it’s not clear what role they’re playing. There were initial reports the home is somehow related to the embassy of the United Arab Emirates.

No one was hurt.
