Orlando Fire Chief resigns after being arrested for “assault on female”

Orlando Fire Chief Benjamin Barksdale has submitted his resignation as a pending assault case continues to play out..

According to WESH, Barksdale was suspended after a mismedeamor arrest warrant was issued for his arrest in North Carolina.

The warrant has been outstanding since August.

The warrant cites Barksdale for an “assault on female.” Few other details have been released into the incident in question.

Barksdale cites his resignation as being best for the city of Orlando.

Deputy Chief Craig Buckley will serve as interim Fire Chief.
