One of the oldest courthouses in Tennessee has been destroyed in a major fire

SHARE

The Loudon County Courthouse will not be seeing any more cases for the foreseeable future. That’s because it sustained major damage after a fire erupted inside the building.

According to WVLT, the fire started late at night and carried through all the way until the morning.

Roughly 60 to 70 firefighters took turns taking naps on the lawn as crews worked their way through the building to put out hot spots.

The fire was so intense that it caused the roof to collapse in on itself.

The city is trying to determine if the building is a total loss, or if they can repair it.
