The Tiltonsville Volunteer Fire Department has confirmed that its Fire Chief, Doug Dugan, has passed away while responding to a fire call.

According to WTRF, Dugan was a long time leader in the volunteer Department.

He apparently suffered a medical emergency while battling a boat fire on Wednesday.

All told, Dugan spent 50 years in the fire service in various roles.

Flags were ordered to stay at half mast in the county until Dugan’s funeral on Monday.

No details on the exact cause of death have been released.
