Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service is investigating its second house fire fatality in two days. The police service responded to a house fire at a home in Cat Lake on Friday afternoon. Investigators found that a man died, and there is a concern that others might have also perished as a result of the blaze.
Police service members did not return a call by The Chronicle-Journal on Saturday and did not release the name of the victim.
The police service responded a day earlier in Eabametoong First Nation, also known as Fort Hope.
A woman died as a result of that fire, in which her two infant children went missing.
The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office is helping in the investigation of both fires.
