A man was found dead inside a Chelsea apartment Sunday afternoon after firefighters responded to a fire inside the unit, authorities said.

According to Chelsea Police Chief Brian Kyes, firefighters and police were called to 207 Chestnut St. for a fire alarm.

The chief said on Twitter that firefighters “made a quick entry” into a third-floor apartment and put out the fire.

Authorities then discovered a man in his 80s dead inside the apartment, according to the chief.

The cause of the man’s death remains under investigation. The cause of the fire is also under investigation.
