An explosion rocked a single story building in Idaho Falls, sending fire crews scrambling to what would later be classified as a two-alarm fire.
The explosion was reported at around a quarter to noon on Sunday when 9-1-1 callers reported hearing an explosion from within a single-story brick building.
By the time fire crews arrived, the building’s east side was gutted with flames and smoke.
Idaho Falls Police quickly shut down traffic in the area, and the gas and power lines leading to the building were shut off.
According to the city’s website, one adult male was inside of the building, though the force of the explosion sent him flying outside. Another person was outside of the structure and also injured. Both men were sent to the hospital for treatment.
A total of five engines and two ambulances were dispatched to the fire, which is currently under investigation.
