Iowa Fire Station Catches Fire

No injuries have been reported from a fire that forced an Iowa firefighter to drive a firetruck out of a station so he could turn around and fight a fire inside the station. The fire erupted about 7 a.m. Thursday at the station in Bellevue, a city of about 2,200 people that sits along the Mississippi River. Fire crews from three other departments were called in to help put down the flames.

Jackson County Sheriff's Deputy Steve Schroeder told the Quad-City Times that he saw the firefighter stick his head out of the firetruck as he drove it out of the station. Schroeder says the truck wasn't burning, but its cab was filled with smoke.

The fire cause is being investigated.
