One infant is killed and 5 others were injured in an apartment fire while their mothers were away at a nightclub in the Nashville area, authorities report.
The fire started sometime after 2 a.m.
The two mothers were reportedly out partying when the fire broke out at the Antioch apartment, later telling police that a babysitter was watching the children.
Metro Nashville Police spokesman said that officers did not find a babysitter on scene where 8-month-old Jream Jenkins died. A 23-month-old is also in critical condition.
The four other children, aged 6,4,2 and 1, were also recovered.
According to The Tennesseean, the Nashville Fire Department are currently investigating the blaze.
All of the surviving children were at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital as of Sunday afternoon.
