Four dead after man shoots his family and torches home

A man in Illinois took his own life after shooting and killing three members of his family on Friday.

The Oak Forest police initially responded to a domestic disturbance involving a report of gunfire in the area.

When police arrived on the scene they found two of the victims in the driveway and a third in the road.

The victims were taken to a hospital where they died.

A child fled the home before the man barricaded before he alledgedly lit the home on fire.

Neighbors claim a Ring camera at the home captured him shooting his family before going inside.

The home is located in the 5500-block of Ann Marie Lane in Oak Forest, which is in the suburban Chicago area.

Neighbors said they heard more than a dozen gunshots at about 6:30 a.m. and one person running from the scene, according to ABC.

About an hour after the shooting, fire crews were attempted to put the fire out.

After the fire was extinguished, responders found the fourth deceased person, who is believed to be the suspect.

“It’s a very tragic situation today; we don’t know who’s been hurt, if anyone was able to get out of the house,” neighbor Cheryl Wilson said.

Another neighbor told ABC the family had been acting strangely in recent weeks. He said he heard a lot of arguing and screaming and said police had been called to the home before.

According to Daily Mail, property records show that the home belongs to Carlos and Lupe Gomez.

44-year-old Carlos has a prior arrest for domestic battery charges in 2016.
