Two first responders on the same rescue team in Clearwater, Florida are in hot water for having sex while on duty.
Lt. William ‘Spike’ Fry has been suspended without pay – for 30 days- for engaging in a sexual relationship with one of his subordinates. Fire Medic Tiffany Seabolt was suspended for 15 days. The two Clearwater Fire Rescue employees worked together at Fire Station 49.
Bay News 9 reports that two shirtless photos of Fry were found on Seabolt’s personal electronics, a photo was taken of Seabolt’s car parked at Fry’s home after midnight, and human resources obtained a torn up parking pass from a beachfront hotel that shows a check out date the day after Seabolt called out sick.
According to an interoffice report, Driver Operator Brian Swartz reported the inappropriate relationship back in August. Investigators say, it appears Fry and Seabolt made counter-accusations against Swartz to “deflect the investigation into their inappropriate conduct.” Seabolt also allegedly sent Swartz threatening text messages. The allegations against Swartz, however, turned out to be unfounded.
“We’re looking at putting cameras on the outside of the buildings, which is a good idea anyway from a homeland security perspective,” said City manager Bill Horne. “But also cameras inside the building, in the common areas and we have requested that our assistant chiefs conduct recurring visits to the fire stations during their tours of duty, since they cover the city 24-7.”
Seabolt has since gotten divorced and Fry- who is married with children- is in the process of getting a divorce, according to The Daily Mail.
