10 kids and an adult became trapped near the top of a waterfall after a calm river turned into a raging rapid after a heavy thunderstorm.
Gwinnett firefighters and police were called out to the scene to rescue the large group.
According to the Gwinnett Fire Department, most of the kids were pulled to safety, but one child was almost taken by the strong current and throw over a 10-foot waterfall onto some rocks. Thankfully, two tethered firefighters were able to grab the child before it reached the edge.
The large group had been picnicking at the base of the river and went into the water to swim, though there are signs posted warning people to stay out of the water.
No one was injured.
