Firefighter’s compassion captured on doorbell camera near wildfire

A California state firefighter’s exchange with an evacuated resident via doorbell camera was recorded for all the world to see, bringing out the humanity behind a Riverside County-area wildfire.

The firefighter hit the two-way doorbell communication device on August 8 to ensure that no one was home, and when homeowner Frank Grosso informed them that they were safe and far away, the firefighter began telling him about the damage to the area.

“We’re going to hang out here a little while longer before we move on, but your house is safe,” the fireman told them, adding that the “yard’s a little blackened but [the] house is perfect.”

According to KTVU, Grosso is anxious for the evacuation order to be lifted, so he can see what damage had been done to his property.
