A firefighter in Washington, DC, was shot while performing his duties on Sunday.
The first responder was one of three individuals shot in the vicinity of Martin Luther King Avenue and South Capitol Street.
While two separate shootings took place, WUSA9 reported that they were related, as the firefighter had been responding to a call regarding a woman being wounded by gunfire outside of a 7-Eleven.
The DC Metro Police stated that the firefighter was injured while responding to the aforementioned call, and was released from the hospital shortly after treatment.
“Shortly after 4:30 PM, a member of #DCsBravest was assisting with treatment of a gunshot victim when more shots were fired in the area,” DC Fire & EMS tweeted. “The firefighter suffered a gunshot injury, & was treated & subsequently released from the hospital. Thanks all of you who expressed concern.”

The shootings took place within ten minutes of each other.
In total, two men and one woman were wounded.
