A fire that destroyed a Luzerne County house early Friday morning left at least three, and probably more, people dead, officials said.

The fire was reported around 2:30 a.m. in the 700 block of 1st Street in Nescopeck. According to officials, some people made it out, but 10 were unaccounted for.

Three bodies have been found in the rubble as of noon Friday, Fox 56 reported.

WNEP says the victims range in age from 6 to 70, citing state police.

According to WTAJ, the family said 14 people were staying at the house Thursday night: One was not home; three made it out, and 10 were unaccounted for.

The American Red Cross is helping residents and first responders. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The county coroner and emergency crews are still on the scene late Friday morning.

State police are calling the fire a “complex criminal investigation,” WKBN reports, and people could be seen crying, mourning and begging for answers at the home.
