Firefighter Drives Private Truck Through Blockbuster

Firefighter Michael Enright was just 3 blocks from home when his 2000 Chevy Silverado smashed into a Blockbuster video store at Chippewa and Jamieson in south St. Louis. Police tell NewsChannel 5 that Enright, 39 years old, says he had an uncontrollable coughing fit, causing him to lose control of his truck.

Police say Enright was coming home from a union meeting at the time, and they are investigating whether alcohol played a role in the crash. The crash happened around 3 a.m.

Enright suffered back and neck pain, and was hospitalized Friday morning.

The manager of the Blockbuster hopes to open Friday night.
