Authorities say a firefighter from Canada collapsed and died today during an international competition at an Indianapolis training center. Wayne Township fire Captain Troy Wymer says the 48-year-old firefighter was part of a team from Burlington, Ontario, competing in the International Extrication Challenge.
The man’s name was not immediately released. Wymer says the cause of death has not been determined.
During the weeklong event, fire departments from around the world use extrication equipment and other tools to remove victims from simulated car crashes.
