Virginia’s largest fire department is now without a battalion chief after the ranking officer resigned over gender equality concerns.
Kathleen Stanley, Women’s Program Officer for the Fairfax County Fire Department and one of only three female battalion chiefs, has reportedly submitted her resignation.
Stanley claims her position as WPO is merely for show and that her suggestions have been repeatedly ignored.
According to US News, the department has fallen under scrutiny several times over sexual harassment.
