Two people who died in an early morning house fire Friday in Bergen County have been identified as a father and his adult son.

Safwat Saad, 75, and Maged Saad, 44, were pulled from a burning home on 9th Street in North Arlington about 4:15 a.m., according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

A 66-year-old woman, identified by borough officials as the wife and mother of the victims, was rescued from the second floor with a neighbor’s ladder and taken to a local hospital.

Firefighters were called about 4:15 a.m. to a report of fire moving through the second floor of the one-family home, which is located on the edge of the borough and borders Lyndhurst Township.

North Arlington Mayor Dan Pronti said resuscitation efforts were made on the father and son before the victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The wife’s condition was not available as of early Friday afternoon.

Public records show the family moved into the ranch-style home in July 2004. The prosecutor’s office and North Arlington police are investigating the cause of the fire.
