Embers rose into the Arizona sky Friday night as Mesa-area fire crews battled a one-alarm blaze at an apartment complex.
Dozens of residents were awoken from their slumber and evacuated during the event, which displaced seven people.
“I just started knocking on every single window in the bottom level, telling them to get out,” resident Andy Engen said. “It was crazy.”
Soon, the area was illuminated with flames, and twenty units were called to tackle the fire.
“I would say the flames were at least 30 feet high,” said Engen. I’ve never seen flames that high before.”
According to AZFamily, the Red Cross is working to help those displaced by the fire.
