Carbon Dioxide fills streets in Germany after tanker leak

A faulty valve on a tanker truck in Germany caused quite the scene the other day, filling the streets with carbon dioxide. The Schillerplatz, or town square, was blocked off by firefighters and police while the gas dissipated.

Residents were instructed to avoid basements as the CO2 is heavier than air, and could settle at lower levels.

In all, 20 police officers and 80 firefighters responded and kept citizens informed until the all clear was given, according to German publication Landesschau Aktuell.
