Army sending hundreds of troops to help battle wild fires

The US Army is preparing to deploy hundreds of troops to battle wildfires raging across the Western United States.

Members of the Washington-based 7th Infantry Division’s 14th Brigade Engineer Battalion are being mobilized to assist in ongoing firefighting operations across the Western US, bringing a much-needed bolstering of manpower to beleaguered firefighters and convict-firefighters.

The unit will send around 200 men, who specialize in construction and demolition.

According to Fox News, the Army engineer troops will join the United States Air Force in fighting the fires, with the latter organization providing C-130s to drop firefighting liquids over the burning wildlands.
