Eight San Antonio firefighters were suspended for their roles in an incident at a West Side fire station in October in which a woman fell off a fire pole during a late-night party with firefighters. Two of the suspensions were indefinite, meaning the firefighters probably will never return to the department.
The other six suspensions range from 10 to 60 days.
“It’s certainly a disappointment,” said Fire Chief Robert Ojeda. “But — all of them — in my meetings with them, agreed there was a lapse of judgment on their part,” he added. Grace Estrada, 30, a USAA employee, said some off-duty firefighters invited her and several other women to Fire Station No. 10 for a late-night party last October.
