Three people died, one child was hospitalized, and an unknown number of others are among the injured Thursday morning after four separate crashes occurred on Interstate 95 in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
At around 1:30 a.m., four separate crashes were reported in the northbound and southbound lanes of I-95 at mile marker 244, near Edgewater and the State Road 442 exit, said Lt. Kim Montes.
At least 15 cars were involved in the four crashes, Montes said. Two people were confirmed to have died in a southbound accident, and one person died in a northbound accident, Montes said. A child was taken to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in stable condition. Montes also said an “unknown number of occupants have been transported to Halifax Hospital.”
North and south bounds are blocked at this time, according to the FHP.
